Did they actually do that? I thought they tried and it turned out not to work.

Talking with Hamza about this curious subject, he told me that a great amount of effort was made on both the engineering and political fronts to try to pull this off. I know the band went into great additional expense, once they arrived at the site, to facilitate this grand experiment. Neither Hamza nor I know what was captured on tape that week towards those ends, but one can conjecture and hope that with all of the technical advancements since then, some driven soul with a mission may have been able to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

...exactly what I'm talking about & why I was inquiring about this. Perhaps those more knowledgeable about such things will illuminate.

...& furthur, seriously, those with stories of the *grateful* dead at the Grateful Dead will expound as well.
